Ticketty-Boo Australian Shepherds has become a passion for us – the city kids who moved to the country to have more room for the dogs to run and play. The story of how Ticketty-Boo got started begins with our goofy boy Shakespeare. The moment that really started it all was Shakespeare’s “Best in Show” win. In the thrill of that moment, we were hooked. Several months later, Kiah was added to the family as our first potential foundation girl. When we went house hunting soon after the addition of Kiah, we realized the big city didn’t have what we were looking for. We both wanted room for our expanding doggie family (and to escape the traffic and smog). So we set off on an adventure of moving to a new city and found a wonderful home with an acre backyard for the dogs to run and play. Our dogs are our joy – many weekends are full of dog shows and many weeknights are spent training with them. Our dogs are part of the family and live in the house as pampered dogs.

I am the one who handles the dogs, but Mike is always driving to shows and helping me in any way he can. He is training with Shakespeare to run agility and when they are old enough, we will train for Disc Dog and whatever other sports we can get involved with. Of course, we are waiting until their joints are fully developed before putting that kind of stress on them.

We spend countless hours sitting in the basement cleaning and cutting up chicken or venison for the dogs or with our arms elbow deep in a ground meat and bone mix for a puppy. We are absolutely committed to a raw diet for our dogs and would never feed processed foods to our dogs, again. After much research, we have also committed to minimal vaccinations and holistic care for our dogs. For more on this, visit the “Holistic Love” page.
